Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, giving birth and adjusting to your new life with your
newborn can be over whelming to say the least! We are often suffering from lack of sleep, feel
like human feeding machines and are constantly being bombarded with information from "Dr.
Google". Postpartum Doulas are there to help you navigate through those early weeks with
your new baby.

Postpartum care can look very different for every family. We work together to come up with a
schedule that will best suit your family's needs. Those early days can often feel like a fog and
parents who have extended support after the birth of their baby often get more rest and adjust
to their new role as parents much more easily.

Postpartum support can include (but is not limited to):

  • Listening to you and helping you process your birth experience

  • Assisting with infant care needs (which includes feeding, bathing, diapering, comforting)

  • Caring for baby while you catch a nap or shower

  • Assisting you with older siblings

  • Assisting with household needs such as laundry, washing dishes, unloading the dishwasher, vacuuming and general tidying

  • Grocery shopping

  • Preparing light meals and snacks to help ensure that you stay well fed and hydrated

  • Help with any infant feeding concerns (breastfeeding or bottle feeding support)

  • Make referrals to specialists and professionals in the community when you require additional support

  • Accompanying you on early outings such as Dr. appointments etc. that may make you feel otherwise overwhelmed on your own

  • Offer unbiased support and help you emotionally and physically recover from birth

  • Provide you with evidence based information on the postpartum period and infant care
